The Nourished School

Supporting Organisations and Schools to understand the link between Food, Mood, Behaviour and overall Wellbeing

The Nourished School is a unique nutrition program for schools and other organisations that will empower staff and students through education and support. Rather than just prescribing a policy or philosophy, this program is planned, implemented and supported to ensure success. Schools will receive information based on the latest research in gut health, including how the gut microbiome and the integrity of the gut lining impacts the brain and nervous system, the immune system, and the body as a whole. Most importantly, The Nourished School program aims to provide students with access to foods that will support their mood, behaviour and learning.

Using knowledge obtained from over 15 years of food industry experience as a food technologist and Quality Assurance Specialist, you will be supported in your journey to create changes towards the goals that you decide are achievable for your school or organisation. Support is tailored to your organisation’s needs, including shopping sessions, product suggestions and substitutions, food allergen control, and understanding information on food labels, such as:

  • Ingredient listings and Allergy Statements
  • Nutritional Panels and Health claims
  • Country of Origin Statements
  • GMO statements
  • Certifications (e.g., organic, biodynamic, free-range etc.)

The Nourished School also focuses on environmental sustainability through awareness of food sources, modern agricultural practices, animal welfare, packaging and waste production.

The program is a collaboration across all departments, such as administration, teaching staff, students, and canteen staff. Students will be empowered through education and by using your school/organisations current food education platforms, such as food tech/cooking classes and activities.

This is a unique opportunity to enhance your school or organisations profile by using evidence-based research to inform the education and food delivery that you provide, whilst supporting the health and wellbeing of your staff, students and the planet.
